Construction Sciences Townsville participated in the yearly TGFC Ladies Game Fishing Day. This year the Townsville Game Fishing Club was able to raise nearly $6,000 for the Golden Octopus Foundation. The Golden Octopus Foundation’s objectives are to improve oncology facilities in all regional areas, including the implementation of childhood cancer nurses. This will alleviate long stays away from families and friends. Wherever possible the foundation will offer support to families, with our long term objective being to assist families in accessing trials which may not have been possible previously.
The ladies on our Construction Sciences team braved the conditions with the cold snap coming through and the 20+ knots of very uncomfortable fishing conditions. There was a challenge set out to include Ollie (Foundation Mascot) in as many social media posts during the day, our team won this with some very creative photos. One of the ladies were also able to catch a 8.3kg Spanish Mackerel which was the biggest Mackerel for the day. Construction Sciences Townsville would like to thank Ray Chappell and Jarrad Agst for their time and efforts to accommodate the ladies on a great day for an even better cause.
