Project Description:
The Ocean Drive Duplication is a critical upgrade to a 3.4-kilometre stretch of roadway in Port Macquarie, New South Wales, aimed at creating a highstandard, dual carriageway to accommodate the region’s growing population and visitor traffic. The upgrade will transform Ocean Drive from a two-lane road into a four-lane divided carriageway, stretching from Greenmeadows Drive (South) to Matthew Flinders Drive/Emerald Drive.
Key improvements include upgraded intersections, a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists, dedicated on-road cycling lanes, and koala exclusion fencing to protect local wildlife. Additional enhancements include water main upgrades to support the area’s infrastructure needs, ensuring safe access for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Ocean Drive serves as a vital link between Port Macquarie and surrounding communities, including Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Laurieton, and Kew. The upgraded road will ease congestion at major intersections and provide safe access to key locations along the corridor, including childcare centres, schools, and bus stops.
Our Role:
Construction Sciences was awarded the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) contract for the Ocean Drive Duplication project in partnership with Ditchfield Contracting. Construction Sciences Port Macquarie Laboratory will oversee all soil and concrete testing.
