Project Description:
Tasmania’s New Bridgewater Bridge will be the largest transport infrastructure project in the State’s history and will connect local communities between the Brooker Highway and Midland Highway. A new 1.3 kilometre long, four-lane bridge will be constructed, with new enhanced interchanges on either side – Granton and Bridgewater. The Australian and Tasmanian governments have committed $786 million to build the New Bridgewater Bridge as part of the Hobart City Deal.
Detailed design work will include two lanes in each direction, a three- metre shared pathway, new interchanges at Bridgewater and Granton with connections to local roads and a grade separated interchange will connect the Brooker and Lyell highways. The new bridge will cut travel times for the 22,000 commuters using the bridge each day and also improve freight times between the north and south of Tasmania, and around the state’s capital.
Our Role:
Construction Sciences has secured the primary testing for the New Bridgewater Bridge project, partnering with McConnell Dowell with the establishment of an on-site laboratory to conduct all earthworks testing.
