Bunbury Outer Ring Road

Project Description:

The Wilman Wadandi Highway, also known as the Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the South-West of Western Australia. Spanning 27 kilometres, BORR is designed to improve road safety, reduce local congestion, and enhance access to Bunbury and surrounding areas.

The project delivered a four-lane, high-standard road connecting the Forrest Highway to the Bussell Highway, significantly improving freight and commuter transport links while supporting economic growth throughout the region. Key features include grade-separated interchanges, bridge structures, and improved connectivity for the Greater Bunbury area, allowing for safer, more efficient travel while preserving local traffic conditions. This transformative infrastructure allows motorists to bypass 13 sets of traffic lights, avoid a rail level crossing, and save up to 18 minutes in travel time, depending on traffic conditions.

The project prioritises environmental responsibility and local heritage, including habitat protections for the Western Ringtail Possum, Black Cockatoo, and Banksia Woodland and Aboriginal naming for key bridges and rivers along the route.

Our Role:

Construction Sciences’ Bunbury Laboratory was contracted to provide site wide comprehensive Construction Materials Testing services across the Bunbury Outer Ring Road project, focusing on the southern section.
