Services: Construction Materials Testing

Construction Sciences Units:
Brisbane North Laboratory

Project Description:

The Beams Road (Carseldine and Fitzgibbon) rail level crossing upgrade aims to reduce congestion, improve safety, and enhance travel efficiency for the northern suburbs of Brisbane. By replacing the existing rail level crossing with a new overpass, the project addresses significant delays and safety concerns, particularly during peak hours.

Spanning from Balcara Avenue Carseldine to Carselgrove Avenue Fitzgibbon, the upgrade features a new overpass bridge, removal of the rail level crossing boom gates, and upgraded pedestrian and cycling paths to improve connectivity. Upgrades to the Carseldine Park ‘n’ Ride were completed in 2023.

Construction of the final stage of the four lane Beams Road overpass will increase access for active transport and improve road safety. Once completed, the project will contribute to safer and more reliable travel for road and rail users, reduce peak-hour congestion, and support local and regional economic growth.

Our Role:
