Project Description:
The Rockhampton Ring Road project is a major infrastructure upgrade designed to improve connectivity to the city of Rockhampton, Queensland, improving road safety, reducing congestion, and increasing flood resilience. With 17.4 kilometres of new roadway including approximately 14.7 kilometres of ring road alignment, the project will create a western link, extending from the Capricorn Highway in the south to the Rockhampton–Yeppoon Road intersection in the north.
The project aims to streamline traffic flow for freight and local commuters, reduce travel times, and provide an alternate route during major flood events.
The project has been segmented into packages for phased delivery, with initial construction focusing on essential north and south sections. This development is a collaborative investment by the Australian and Queensland Governments, contributing to long-term economic growth, improved network efficiency, and safer road access throughout the region.

Our Role:
Construction Sciences’ Central Queensland South team has been awarded the BMD Bielby Joint Venture to provide Construction Materials Testing (CMT) for the Rockhampton Ring Road project. The CMT contract includes testing and quality assurance for materials used in constructing the ring road section between the Bruce Highway (Yaamba Road), Monier Road embankment, and various access points such as McLaughlin Street and Monier Road.
