Project Description:
The Western Outer Ring Main project is a proposed high pressure, buried, gas transmission pipeline approximately 50km in length. It will address a key capacity constraint in the Victoria Transmission System (VTS) by providing a new high pressure connection between existing sources of natural gas supply in the north and east with those in the west of the State.
Our Role:
Construction Sciences completed a geotechnical investigation for the proposed pipeline alignment as well as at various structure locations including valve and receiving facility. This information was used to facilitate detailed design and inform construction methodologies for the proposed pipeline with particular focus on proposed Horizontal Direction Drill (HDD) locations at road and creek crossings. The project included drilling 50+ boreholes to an average depth of 15m.
